Finding freedom in the unconventional, a collection of works by Michelle Isham
“Creating is simultaneously grounding, meditative, and joyful. I am moved by the layering of color and texture in a responsive and emotive way. Each additive or subtractive change to the canvas takes me on a journey, often taking a very circuitous route before ending up just the way it’s meant to be. I love having a piece that has layers of visual history, each layer sharing a piece of the process.
My process is guided by response to emotion and feeling as well as an intentionality.
I try to create paintings that reflect a balance between thoughtful planning and spontaneity.”
