Collection: Tree - Saw - Paint

A collection of works by Sean O’Meallie

"This collection of sculpture expresses my current view on the absurdity of life along with some humor about it. It’s at once bright and dark. I try to make stand alone objects that address this, but in a group setting, the silly and sarcastic give way to an overall expression of a fondness I have for searching for such objects, the act of setting them out for view and an underlying optimism about this otherwise silly business."

Sean O’Meallie has a background in higher education and toy invention, but is known for his painted wood sculptures. His work is held in public, private and museum collections including the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College, The Sangre de Cristo Arts Center in Pueblo, Colorado, The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, Little Rock, Arkansas, and the Museum of Art and Design in New York, NY. His sculptures have toured the U.S. and Europe, and his work is featured in Launching the Imagination, a university text on art and design now in its 6th edition. Cowboy Pajamas, a 20’ playfully abstracted cowboy is located in downtown Denver, and he is the creator of The Manitou Chair Project, a four hour, 1/2 mile installation down its historic main street in 2011 temporarily using 700 chairs borrowed from Manitou homes and 400 volunteers. Balloon Man Running, a 32’ sculpture of a running balloon figure, commissioned for Denver RTD’s Central Park Station, was named Best New Public Artwork of 2017 by Denver’s Westword newspaper.
